1984, I live in Cape Coral Florida. I call 107 wooj fm radio station at 12 years old. I ask the rock station to play a request. The DJ recognizes my voice is one of a child and he says “what do you want to hear “ as though I am a bill collector. “Could you please play top jimmy or I’ll Wait for me?” He says “yea don’t hold your breath kid.” and hangs up. I wanted the world to know how great the songs other than “jump” were. After he hung up on me I thought, well, I know how awesome these songs are, and your a dick. True story.
While we’re eagerly waiting on the next podcast, I came across this video which can tied over for a little while. The interview with Steve Stevens was great:

I never heard that story. Weird it has not been metioned in all the Sunset Sound interviews on youtube or in Ted Templeman’s book. It could be that he is mistaking it for this amp: https://wgsusa.com/blog/eddie-van-halen-secret-amp-fender-bandmaster
