In this episode, my guest Steve Vai talks with me about a wide range of topics that include playing in my dad's band and Edward Van Halen's connection to us and how it changed our lives. We unravel parts of the mystery behind the phone call that started it all. We learn more about the very first thing I saw Edward Van Halen play up close, stories of recording in the studio with EVH when I was 12 years old and how Steve Vai ended up in David Lee Roth's band.

Dweez - LOVE the pod and worth every penny. I'm an early years guy myself and just wondered - any plans to do one on a Different Kind Of Truth? I like a lot of fans love that album and obviously there's a lot to dive into there what with some of it being original, some of it being from the demos and some of it being from elsewhere.   All the best and keep up the good work!

When they’re ready (the episodes), I’m ready.
Meanwhile I’ll be upgrading to the Silver Subscription to access all the goodies.
Thank you “Dweez” for such an awesome insight to this stuff.

Ditto on the "Thank you..."

This has been kinda priceless on the "You Might Have Listened To This One Too Many Times..." front. Just the discussion on where "Gibson Scale Length..."/"Ed's 'Main' Guitar..." were on the recordings, and the hunt for if any telltale signs of trem bar have put a smile on my face.

Never mind the whole "This Sounds Like 'Less' Gain..." and pinch harmonics discussion.

Past that? Get well soon!

We’re patiently waiting outside the UMRK ready to storm if this episode doesn’t come out soon!

Dweezil Z.

Lady Gaga owns the UMRK now and she might think you're stalking her! I'm sorry for all the delays on top of working on the episode I started feeling under the weather. Fortunately it's not covid. It did slow me down though and I'm just getting back on my feet.

Lord get this poor boy an assistant!
