David S.

I was at the Ludlow Garage show! It was a strangely setup venue with a cramped stage but you guys blew my freaking mind!!!! The Fillmore 71 songs had me smiling ear to ear!

Dweezil

Hi David, Thanks! It was an odd setup and we barely fit on the stage. I remember that show well because I had a chiropractic treatment at the venue to help with a terrible shoulder pain issue that had plagued me the whole tour. I was struggling to even pick up my guitar and raise it over my head. Especially that gold top! It's at least 14 lbs.

Fortunately, the treatment helped and the pain eventually subsided a few months later. Andy Bourne was the chiropractor who helped and he drove in from Louisville. Thanks Andy!

Is "Montana" London, Ontario Canada or London, UK?

HowieZowie

Must be UK - you wouldn't have played "Montana" on the Hot Rats Live Tour.

Dweezil

We did play Montana on the Hot Rats tour in the second half of the show. The version on my site is from the UK.

New tshirt set is killer.  Remember you guys played Imaginary Diseases at the Rothbury 2008 Music Festival.  I was floored then and I am floored now by this recording, (As well as all the rest)  So great you are keeping your Dads compositions fresh and all inspiring.

P.S.  Any updates on the 2010 Apostrophe show for release?  Its the one tour I missed since you started the Zappa Plays Zappa project and would love to see and hear that in its finished form.

Wonderful. Strictly commercial.

Any info on "Car Tune" ? It's origin etc.

Thanks a bunch DZ

Dweezil

Car Tune was recorded as a demo for the "Wiggy" amplifier I designed. It showcased many of the sounds the amp could make. I did it in the early 90's.

I saw on discogs a while back that you had put out version of The Gumbo Variations (one of my all time favorites) last year, and I recently found your website, so I bought that track. I loved it and it sounded great, but part of me was bummed it wasn't 20 minutes long (or 30 like the Big Legs version). I've been a huge fan of yours and your dad's for decades, and I've always been partial to the extended jams. When I saw you put out another version with this collection, I just got it and I was actually able to mash up the two in a similar fashion to what Frank did with King Kong on YCDTOSA Vol.3. Now I have a Dweezil Gumbo track with an extra long sax solo, a violin solo, and a guitar solo that clocks in at just over 18 minutes. This might not mean much to you or anyone else, but I really felt like sharing, because I can't stop listening to it. Thank you so much for continuing to put out records, and I look forward to getting the new album on the 30th. Much Love. SRM

Hi Spencer,

It sounds like you're afflicted with the dreaded HTFS - High Tolerance For Solos! LOL! I'm glad you're enjoying the track(s). I'm constantly adding new tracks to the website so I'll look for some extended solo options for you. I was thinking of doing a project where I take a collection of solos and improvisational happenings and put them inside a single song, for example - KING KONG. I have many versions with all sorts of band solos and guest solos from people like Chick Corea. 1 single track that could be edited together to become an hour long version. Might be a fun experiment.

Spencer Meibos

I was blessed enough to see you guys with Chick Corea (RIP) in Boston back in 2011, so I would certainly love to hear a track featuring his unreal improvisations... and if it were an hour long, all the more amazing :-)
